A Letter From Our Unit President
Fred Bloss
December 17, 2023
Good Evening Retirees:
Once again it is my privilege to write to you at Christmas. I just realized tonight that this is the ninth time that I have written to you at this time of the year. If you are like me, I usually take a little time to look back on the year that is about to end. A lot has changed and yet, some things have remained the same: CHRISTMAS and the SPIRIT of CHRISTMAS. No matter how bad some things seem, the laughter and smiles of children, the beautiful Christmas music that we have come to cherish, the charity and love we have for those who have less than us, and our faith in a power greater than us that controls this world of ours, THESE NEVER CHANGE.
I still have that CD of Christmas music sung by Bing Crosby and I still love the song, THE SECRET OF CHRISTMAS and its message:
It’s not the things we do at Christmas time, but the
Christmas things we do all year through.
No matter how bad things seem to be in our world, we do have so much to be thankful for. I am definitely thankful for you and the many people in my life who make life worthwhile. I am also thankful for the IRTA which has made it possible for us to have a 3% Cola increase in our pension every year, including 2024.
On behalf of your Executive Board and myself, I want to wish you and your families the blessings of Christmas and the hopes and prayers for a blessed New Year. May all of us dwell on the positive blessings we have and not the negative. If we do, then we will do “CHRISTMAS THINGS ALL YEAR THROUGH”.
Thank you again for your continued friendship and support.
Sincerely,
Fred
